BJP warns rebel candidates to withdraw nominations for Telangana municipal polls or face disciplinary action
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Telangana unit has advised ‘rebel’ candidates to withdraw their nominations for the upcoming Municipal elections or face strict disciplinary action as per party rules.
The State party president, N. Ramchander Rao, said the BJP is contesting elections in all 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations. After extensive consultations and a collective decision-making process, the party has issued tickets as well as B-forms to selected candidates.
He said the tickets were allotted only in constituencies where the party assessed a strong chance of victory. Therefore, workers who did not receive tickets “need not feel disappointed,” he said, adding that any action contrary to the party’s decisions would be treated as a breach of discipline. Mr. Rao warned that if party workers file nominations as independents or through any other means, it will be considered an act of defiance, according to a press release.
