Chinta Mohan criticises NDA and YSR Congress for neglecting Andhra Pradesh's interests.
Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Chinta Mohan accused both the NDA government in the State and the opposition YSR Congress Party of failing to protect the interests of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking at a press conference in Nellore on Wednesday (January 29), he claimed that former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy remained in power with BJP’s backing and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu allied with the BJP out of frustration and helplessness.
Mr. Chinta Mohan highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s financial crisis, comparing it to Punjab. He pointed out that while Kerala and Tamil Nadu face challenges, their leaders push forward with strategic governance. In contrast, he argued, Andhra Pradesh’s leadership lacked initiative and continues to blame the Centre for its failures.
He criticised the neglect of Nellore’s development, noting that the Congress had established key projects like Sriharikota, Sri City, Krishnapatnam Port, and the Mannavaram BHEL factory. He challenged the YSRCP and TDP to name any major contributions they had made to the district.
He condemned the classification of Scheduled Castes, blaming the TDP for creating divisions and calling for the Mishra Commission’s cancellation.
He said that the failure of regional parties made Congress the only alternative. He said there was a clear signal in favour of the Congress’ push to regain relevance in Andhra Pradesh politics ahead of the upcoming elections to local bodies.
