Hyderabad police bust illegal food units, seizing rotten eggs and adulterated products, arresting multiple offenders in a major crackdown.
In a series of coordinated crackdowns, the Hyderabad Police and Commissioner’s Task Force teams arrested seven persons and busted multiple illegal food manufacturing units across the city, seizing adulterated and unhygienic products worth lakhs.
In the largest operation, officials from the Golconda zone arrested a 31-year-old trader Nakoul Marotiyaa in Begum Bazar for running an illegal coconut powder manufacturing unit under the name ‘Balaji Purushotham Coconut Business Shop’. The accused was found repackaging low-quality coconut powder sourced cheaply from Karnataka into branded packets and selling it as genuine products without licence or food safety certification.

Authorities seized 8,300 kg of coconut powder, along with packing and weighing machines, with the total value estimated at ₹21 lakh. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Food Safety Act at Goshamahal Police Station.
In a separate raid, three brothers were arrested for manufacturing and selling adulterated ginger and garlic paste under unhygienic conditions in two godowns under the name ‘Deccan Traders’ located in Rajendranagar. The accused, identified as Sohail Charaniya, 38, Raheem Charaniya, 36 and Amit Charaniya, 35, all residents of Silver Jubilee Society, Secunderabad, were allegedly mixing harmful chemicals and synthetic colours into the paste, which was then supplied to wholesale shops and catering services across Hyderabad.
Officials seized around 70 quintals of paste, 40 litres of santic acid, one box of synthetic food colour and other chemicals worth ₹3.5 lakh. The accused and seized material were handed over to Attapur police for further investigation.
