TANUVAS employee Ethiraj Vadivel arrested for misappropriating ₹2.85 crore by forging signatures on government funds.
Avadi Central Crime Branch has arrested an employee of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) on charges of misappropriating government funds amounting to ₹2.85 crore by forging signatures.
The accused, Ethiraj Vadivel, who had been working at TANUVAS at Madhavaram Milk Colony under the Avadi Police Commissionerate, is alleged to have siphoned off money from the university’s bank account by forging the director’s signature on NEFT forms. He allegedly misappropriated government funds belonging to TANUVAS to the tune of ₹2.85 crore.
Based on a complaint lodged by TANUVAS seeking action against the accused, the Avadi Central Crime Branch registered a case and took up investigation. The police arrested Ethiraj Vadivel, 37, on Friday (February 6, 2026). He was subsequently produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
