
Tamil Nadu witnesses sharp Covid surge; Chennai reports 2,481 new cases in one day

Tamil Nadu reported a massive surge with 4,862 fresh cases, pushing the state's tally to 27,60,449, the Health Department said.
In Tamil Nadu, a massive rise in the tally of Covid infections was observed with 4,862 new cases recorded yesterday. Among the new cases, there were 38 people who had a history of domestic as well as international travel.
The total number of those who have been infected with Covid-19 in the coastal state currently stands at an alarming number of 27,60,449. Seven districts, including that of Chennai, Chengalpet, Coimbatore, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Kancheepuram, and Tuticorin are the ones where the most numbers of fresh cases have been reported.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
