Police in Tamil Nadu have come under the scanner for taking 5 Kurava (Scheduled Tribe) men into custody without a warrant or informing them about the case.
Police in Tamil Nadu have come under the scanner for arresting 5 Kurava (Scheduled Tribe) men by entering their homes, allegedly beating them in front of their families and taking them into custody without informing about the case or lodging an FIR.
The matter came into light after a similar issue of police torture was depicted in the recently released film, Jai Bhim, which narrates the story of three Irula tribe men being taken into police custody and being tortured.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
