Tamil Nadu government issued new guidelines banning public New Year celebrations in the state. Restrictions will also be imposed on travel.
The Tamil Nadu government has issued new guidelines banning New Year celebrations on beaches and public places across the state.
In a statement, Tamil Nadu DGP said that no celebrations will be allowed in beaches and in public places. Further, police have advised citizens against drink and drive, warning them of arrests and seizure of vehicles.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
