
Tamil Nadu Cabinet approves investment proposals worth ₹34,237 crore

Tamil Nadu Cabinet approves ₹34,237 crore investment proposals, boosting job creation and advancing the blue economy in multiple districts.
The Tamil Nadu Cabinet approved 15 proposals entailing a cumulative investment to the tune of ₹34,237.39 crore, Minister for Industries T.R.B. Rajaa said on Thursday (February 5, 2026) following a meeting of the Tamil Nadu Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at the Secretariat in Chennai.
During the meeting, the Cabinet approved these investment proposals planned in Chengalpattu, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Karur, Krishnagiri, Perambalur, Namakkal, Ramanathapuram, Ranipet, Thoothukudi, Tiruchi, Tiruppur, Tiruvallur and Tiruvannamalai districts. These proposals are expected to generate employment to about 55,000 people, he said.
Addressing journalists after the Cabinet meeting, Mr. Rajaa said the announcement regarding one of the major proposals for which Cabinet gave its approval, would be made on February 13. Referring to the ‘Conversion Conclave’ scheduled on February 12, the Ministers said many announcements would be made during the conclave too.
Investment proposals by Kaynes Circuit Limited (printed circuit boards, camera modules), Johnson Electric (BLDC motors, power cooling motors), were among those approved. “Evervan Kothari Footwear Limited’s proposal would give employment to about 25,000 people. We are bringing the Adidas brand to Tamil Nadu,” Mr. Rajaa said.
With an intention to take the blue economy to the next level and to provide opportunities for fishermen, an initiative is underway in shipbuilding, he said. The Cabinet gave its approval through which Chennai Radha Engineering would make hulls for ships, he said.
Proposals by Yazaki India Private Limited (auto components), Hyundai expansion, Gensol (manufacture of solar cell), among others were also approved, the Minister said. Mr Stalin and Tata Group chairman N. Chandrasekaran are scheduled to take part in the inauguration of a car manufacturing plant in Ranipet on February 9.
