Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai hit back at DMK leader A Raja by using quotes from Periyar’s book. At an event in Coimbatore, the TN BJP chief read out quotes which said that the DMK would give anything to gather votes from the people.

Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Annamalai hit back at Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader A Raja using quotes from Periyar’s book criticising the DMK. This comes after Raja’s controversial comments on Sanatana Dharma.

Raja had stated that Sanatana Dharma calls lower caste Hindus Shudras. He further claimed that it was from a book about Manusmriti and quoted by Periyar. Reacting to this, the BJP and pro-Hindu groups lashed out at A Raja seeking an apology and even holding bandhs in Nilgiris district and Puducherry.

Meanwhile, Annamalai, in a speech he gave at Coimbatore, hit back with quotes from a book written by Periyar that criticised the DMK which said that they would give up anything to gather votes.

“You quoted from a book by Thanthai Periyar. Let me quote from the same book to A Raja and please tell me if you accept this. ‘There is nothing to say or think. What all are they giving for a vote? Except for their wives, everything is being given for a vote! He is not worried at all! Who else? Our Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) guys only! Others would scold me for saying this. What is the need for these Munnetra guys? Why are they doing this?’” stated Annamalai.
