
Tamil Nadu becomes first state to get own genome sequencing lab

Tamil Nadu became the first state on Wednesday to get its own genome sequencing laboratory.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian said on Wednesday that the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) has approved the state government's request to set up a genomic sequencing lab.
The Tamil Nadu health department has been raising concerns about the delay in receiving the results of the gene drop samples sent for genomic analysis amid the surge in Covid-19 cases.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
