Takeaways’ from Jets’ joint practice with Giants as tensions rise
NY Post
Gang Green and Big Blue have very different practice styles, and their two days of knocking helmets were bound to find a gray area. That happened Wednesday, and that’s where to begin our Jets takeaways from Day 2 against the Giants.
1. Jamien Sherwood knocked Wan’Dale Robinson to the ground, and that was the first hint that, despite the agreed-upon thud-tempo rules, there might be more physicality in this practice than is usually seen with the Giants.
Sure enough, a small fight broke out later when Will McDonald IV hit Tyrone Tracy Jr. to the ground. Greg Van Roten, a former Jet, and rookie Marcus Mbow took exception after the whistle, and it looked like Mbow punched McDonald while he was on the ground.
Qwan’tez Stiggers pulled loose the helmet of the much bigger Jon Runyan and squared up to fight him, but Runyan’s teammates Russell Wilson and Aaron Stinnie stepped in to break it up.
