In the time it takes to say “You’re fired!” I made a mistake that ended my short-lived scouting career.
How do you measure 0.3 seconds? The blink of an eye. The fastest predator strike in the African jungle. How quickly a single-purpose robot solves a Rubik’s Cube.
I was 0.3 seconds late clicking my stopwatch at the start of an NFL draft prospect’s 40-yard dash … and just like that, I created the fastest player in league history: a 4.18-second cornerback.
“That’s a multimillion f–k-up,” one NFL scout laughed.
