Residents of Pallapatti in Dindigul district have urged the Dindigul district administration and the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department officials to take steps to remove encroachments from Boothamarathupatti Muthalamman Temple lands in the district.
The residents said that several people had encroached upon the temple lands. These people had not only encroached upon the temple lands, but were also interfering with the conduct of the temple festival, the residents said, adding that they feared that these temple lands would be used for commercial purposes.
They urged the authorities to take steps to retrieve the temple lands from the encroachers. Appropriate action should be taken against them, they demanded and submitted a petition in this regard to the Dindigul Collector.
