Chief Minister M.K.Stalin visits Nilgiris for annual flower show inauguration, greeted by district officials and party members.
Chief Minister M.K.Stalin arrived in the Nilgiris on Monday where he is scheduled to stay for the next few days till the inauguration of the 127th annual flower show on Thursday.
According to sources in the Nilgiris district administration, Mr. Stalin was received by Nilgiris district collector, Lakshmi Bhavya Tannneeru and district superintendent of police, N.S.Nisha at the Kunjapannai checkpost at the Nilgiris-Coimbatore border on Monday afternoon.
Mr. Stalin then proceeded to Udhagamandalam town where he was welcomed by party functionaries and members of the public before proceeding to the Tamizhagam government guest house where he will stay for the duration of his visit. Officials from the Nilgiris district administration said that Mr. Stalin would inaugurate the annual flower show, the marquee event of the summer festival in the Nilgiris, and is most likely to depart from the Nilgiris on Friday.
In preparation for the Chief Minister’s visit, police presence was stepped up across the district, with forest department staff also being stationed along the route the convoy took to reach Udhagamandalam to prevent wild animals from crossing the road.
Mr. Stalin is also said to be expected to take part in a few select events during the course of his stay and is also expected to meet members from various Adivasi communities.
