Bengal BJP leader Jaiprakash Majumdar, who was suspended from the party a few days ago, attacked the party's central leadership in a press conference on Tuesday.
The din in the Bengal unit of the Bhartaiya Janata Party reached Delhi on Tuesday as the suspended leader Jaiprakash Majumdar attacked the party's central leadership in a press conference in Kolkata.
Majumdar, a veteran of the saffron party, accused that the leaders in the central leadership of ignoring the core issues and deserting the workers in time of need.
"During the Bengal poll, I was given the task of communicating the pulse of the state to the central leadership. However, some central leaders were trying to put down the Bengal brigade of the party. I told them it was not right," Majumdar told media on Tuesday.
Jaiprakash Majumdar, who was suspended from the BJP on Monday for violating the party discipline, claimed that Delhi leaders abandoned party workers during the post-poll violence.
"Everyone knows what happened right after the election results were declared. After 12 PM on May 2 [2021], Delhi leaders were desperately looking for returned tickets to Delhi. Meanwhile, many BJP workers were being attacked across Bengal and no prominent leader was there to stand beside them," Majumdar said.
The miffed leader said that even though several BJP leaders claim that they have risen from the ABVP movement, none of them stood up for student issues in Bengal, such as reopening of schools.
He also highlighted that there were fresh faces in BJP offices in at least 32 districts. "No one knows any of them. And I wonder how come not a single minority member has been picked," Majumdar pointed out.
