
Suspected monkeypox case found in Jharkhand's Deoghar, samples sent for testing

A person is suspected to be infected with the Monkeypox virus in Deoghar in Jharkhand. The suspect has been sent to the lab for testing.
Among the devotees in the Shravan Mela in Deoghar, also known as Baidyanath Dham, a person has been suspected to be infected with the monkeypox virus. The suspected person has already been sent to the lab for testing.
The fair was organized this year after two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Devotees in large numbers from all parts of the country reached Baidyanath Dham to worship.
As soon as it was suspected that the person might be suffering from monkeypox, the authorities in Deoghar district were alerted.
Strict checking and testing is being done for the travellers and tourists coming to Deoghar by trains and flights.
As per Central Government reports, there have been 4 confirmed cases of Monkeypox in India to date.
Out of these 4 cases, three patients are from Kerala and one from Delhi. The government is conducting strict testing to stop the spread of the viral zoonotic disease.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
