The Railway Protection Force under the Salem Railway Division has intensified security at all stations and in trains in view of the summer vacation rush.
More passengers are expected to travel by trains during vacation and additional trains are generally introduced to manage the rush. To prevent theft of valuables and to avoid other untoward incidents at stations and inside trains, the Railway Protection Force has strengthened vigil by deploying additional personnel.
Divisional Security Commandant S. Shivasankaran said that intensive checks would be conducted inside compartments and pantry cars to prevent fire accidents. He said that the number of escort personnel have been increased in trains as a precautionary measure. A Special Force of RPF has been stationed at Erode and they would be utilised for train escorts. General checks have been intensified in important stations such as Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Karur, Salem and few others. Monitoring has been intensified using CCTV cameras and a person has been deployed to man the CCTV room, he added.
