
Subodh Jaiswal takes charge as CBI director, gets briefed by senior officer

The new CBI chief, Subodh Jaiswal, took charge on Wednesday. He was received by senior officials, who briefed him. Jaiswal is a 1985- batch Maharashtra cadre IPS officer.
Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, a 1985- batch Maharashtra cadre IPS officer, assumed charge as director of Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday after handing over the charge of director-general, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Jaiswal was received by the senior officers of CBI on his arrival in the agency's headquarters in Delhi. "After taking charge, Jaiswal was briefed by senior officers of CBI,” said an officer.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
