'Staunch defender of cybersecurity': China denies its hackers behind Mumbai power outage

After reports emerged that Chinese hackers could be behind the massive power outage that hit Mumbai in October last year, China's foreign ministry has come out with a statement saying that it was highly irresponsible to accuse without any evidence.

China on Monday rejected reports that Chinese hackers were behind the massive power outage that wiped out India's financial capital Mumbai last year. FM Spokesperson: As staunch defender of cyber security, China firmly opposes&cracks down on all forms of cyber attacks. Speculation&fabrication have no role to play on the issue of cyber attacks.Highly irresponsible to accuse a particular party with no sufficient evidence around. pic.twitter.com/1aB60A4pRR Releasing a statement, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson called the allegations "highly irresponsible". "As a staunch defender of cybersecurity, China firmly opposes and cracks down on all forms of cyberattacks. Speculation and fabrication have no role to play on the issue of cyberattacks," the Chinese spokesperson said.
