The strategic Srinagar-Leh highway was reopened for vehicular traffic after remaining closed for nearly two months due to heavy snowfall.
The strategic Srinagar-Leh highway was reopened for vehicular traffic after remaining closed for nearly two months due to heavy snowfall.
With the continuous efforts of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the highway was closed for only a few weeks this year.
The road was closed on January 5 this year following heavy snowfall after remaining open for a record time despite inclement weather, DG of BR0 Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhary said.
Zoji-La is a high mountain pass that runs through the Kashmir valley to Ladakh and is situated at an altitude of 3528 m above sea level.
This road is the lifeline for the survival and economic development of the people of Ladakh as well as for the security forces.
