Special Public Prosecutor, who allegedly targeted BJP leaders, removed from NCP MLA Ramesh Kadam case

Special Public Prosecutor Pravin Chavan has been removed from former NCP MLA Ramesh Kadam’s case in which the latter is allegedly accused of being involved in a scam revolving around Sahityaratna Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Development Corporation (SLASDC).
The Maharashtra government has removed Special Public Prosecutor Pravin Chavan from the case he is perusing against former NCP MLA Ramesh Kadam and instead has appointed Ajay Misar in his place.
Chavan had faced accusations from BJP leaders that he was trying to frame them in fake cases. Chavan had denied the allegations.
Ajay Misar informed the court recently that the state government has cancelled Chavan’s appointment and has appointed him in the latter’s place. He placed on record the notification of his appointment issued by the state government dated July 21.
Chavan had been part of the trial against Kadam since 2016 and had resisted the ex-MLA’s bail plea recently when it was rejected by the court.
The former NCP MLA Ramesh Kadam was allegedly involved in a scam revolving around Sahityaratna Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Development Corporation (SLASDC). The case against him was registered in 2015 at Dahisar police station in Mumbai and since then Kadam has been lodged in prison.
The case was later transferred to the CID to probe allegations of cheating, forgery, criminal conspiracy for misappropriating funds of Lokshahir Annabhau Sathe Magasvargiya Vikas Mahamandal where he was holding a relevant post.
Chavan hails from Jalgaon and in the past few years has handled many high profile cases mainly revolving around frauds done by ministers and others.
