Special prayers mark Easter celebration in southern districts

Easter celebrations in southern districts with special prayers and masses in churches led by devoted Christians.
The Easter celebration, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ after being crucified, was held with devotion by Christians across southern districts. It is customary for the Christians to attend the special prayers and holy masses in the churches.
Special prayers were held in various churches throughout southern districts. In catholic churches, midnight services were held on Saturday night, while CSI churches conducted their Easter services early Sunday morning.
At St. Xavier’s Cathedral in Palayamkottai, a special holy mass was conducted under the leadership of former bishop of Palayamkottai diocese Jude Paulraj. At midnight, electric lights were turned off and the congregation welcomed the resurrection of Jesus by lighting candles.
In Udayarpatti Sacred Heart Church, the holy mass was conducted by Parish Priest Michael Rasu.
In Kanniyakumari district special masses were held at St. Xavier’s Cathedral in Kottar, St. Andrew’s church in Manakudy, CSI Home Church in Nagercoil, St. Antony’s Church in Kuzhithurai and other churches across the district.
Special service was also held in Our Lady of Snow Basilica in Thoothukudi, Our Lady of Lourdes church in Lourdammalpuram and other churches in the district.
Similarly in Tenkasi district, the celebration was held with the same devotion across the catholic, CSI and other churches.
