
Special health camps held in rain-affected areas

Tiruchi Corporation conducts medical camps in rain-hit areas to prevent water-borne diseases, with focus on fever and dengue.
Tiruchi Corporation conducted special medical camps in rain-hit areas of Zone II and IV in the city on Monday to prevent the outbreak of water-borne diseases.
Residential areas in Karumandapam, Piratiyur, Crawford, and Eadamalaipatti Pudur witnessed heavy waterlogging after the heavy rain in the last week.
Teams of doctors and nurses were deployed at these affected areas to conduct special camps at Ward 49 MGR Nagar in Sangiliyandapuram, Ward 56 Kulathukarai and Senbagam Apartments in Karumandapam, Ward 58 Gandhi Nagar in Eadamalaipatti Pudur.
People, especially children, were screened for fever, cough, and cold, and medicines were provided accordingly. “The camps will be conducted in vulnerable areas to monitor the spread of diseases. Samples would be taken if the person is diagnosed with fever, diarrhoea or other ailments,” said M. Vijay Chandran, City Health Officer.
Apart from this, fever camps are being conducted at 18 urban primary health centres every day, morning and evening.
Meanwhile, anti-dengue drive and door-to-door surveillance to check for potential breeding sources are under way in the Corporation limits.
