Southwest monsoon reaches Kerala three days ahead of onset date

The southwest monsoon reached Kerala on Sunday, three days ahead of its onset date of June 1.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said the southwest monsoon has set in over Kerala on Sunday, three days ahead of its normal onset date of June 1.

According to ANI, the director of IMD said widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is expected in many districts of Kerala during the next five days. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea on May 29 and 30.
The IMD said the southwest monsoon has also advanced into the south Arabian Sea, the Lakshadweep area, parts of south Tamil Nadu and Bay of Bengal.
The IMD added that conditions are favourable for the southwest monsoon to advance into parts of Karnataka and northeastern states during the next three to four days.
