Sonipat: School bus collides with truck, 12 children hurt

A school bus that was coming from the wrong side collided with a truck on National Highway 44 on Friday morning, injuring 12 children. Six of them were seriously injured. A police investigation is underway.
A school bus carrying 30 children and a truck met with an accident on National Highway 44 on Friday morning. The bus, bound to Rukmani School, was going in the wrong lane when the collision with the truck happened. The driver along with 12 children were injured, out of whom 6 suffered serious injuries.
The accident took place on the Chandigarh-Delhi National Highway 44 when the bus was on its way to enter the school gate from the wrong side. The bus driver had taken the underpass from the opposite direction, a route that was taken by him everyday to reach the school and save time. The police have also confiscated the truck.
Bahalgarh police station in-charge Rishi Kant said, “An in-depth investigation is being done in the matter. If the bus driver is found to be at fault, action will be taken against him. Meanwhile, we have confiscated the truck and taken its driver into custody.”
The injured have been taken to a nearby hospital where their treatment is being done. All the children are said to be in stable condition.
