Sonam Kapoor, expecting her second child with Anand Ahuja, hosted an elegant godh bharai ceremony at her residence, marked by her distinctive maternity style and attended by figures from the film and fashion industries.
Sonam Kapoor celebrated her baby shower the way only she can – intimate, elegant and effortlessly stylish. The actor, who is expecting her second child with husband Anand Ahuja, hosted a private godh bharai ceremony at her Mumbai home on Sunday, surrounded by close friends, family and a carefully curated guest list from the film and fashion worlds.
True to Sonam’s aesthetic, the gathering steered clear of excess, opting instead for understated charm and personal touches. The celebration reflected her evolving approach to maternity – rooted in tradition, yet relaxed and modern.
For the occasion, Sonam chose a lime-green lehenga paired with a matching cape. Featuring delicate floral embroidery, the ensemble stood out for its fluid silhouette and ease of movement. The cape, draped softly over her shoulders, added comfort while lending the outfit a contemporary edge. Photo: Instagram/Sonam Kapoor
She teamed the lehenga with an embroidered choli and styled the dupatta in a pallu drape, consciously avoiding heavy pleats or rigid layering. The look leaned into comfort-first dressing while staying firmly within the realm of classic Indianwear.
Sonam kept her styling minimal yet impactful. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek bun, finished with a small red bindi. A bold red lip added contrast, while a statement gold necklace, matching earrings, stacked bangles and multiple rings brought richness to the ensemble without overpowering it. Several familiar faces from the Hindi film industry attended the ceremony. Kareena Kapoor Khan arrived in a blue-and-white suit with gota patti detailing, her hair neatly tied in a bun and accessorised with jhumkas and a bindi. Khushi Kapoor opted for a white-and-yellow saree, wearing her hair loose and completing the look with a pearl choker and earrings.
