Some snow this weekend, then another nor'easter next week

Keep the snow shovels handy.
Multiple rounds of snow are on the way for Nova Scotia over the next few days with a pair of systems moving in for the weekend and then a larger storm set to arrive on Monday.
The first system at hand will track south of Nova Scotia tonight and Saturday morning bringing snow for the southwest half of the mainland. Totals will be highest along the South Shore, where totals near 10 to 20 cm are looking likely.
Amounts will drop off quickly to the north, but the Halifax area and Annapolis Valley region may pick up near five centimetres, or perhaps a bit more if the system edges a bit further north.
Behind that system, we’ll see gusty northerly winds gusting to 50 km/h and a trough moving in from the north. That trough will bring snow beginning Saturday afternoon through the overnight and into Sunday morning.
The Northumberland Shore and Cape Breton regions will bear the brunt of the snowfall this time around with totals of five to 15 cm on the way. A trace to five centimetres elsewhere.
All eyes are on next week, as another nor’easter looks set to move in with significant snowfall and strong winds.
There’s still some uncertainty on the track of the storm, however widespread totals of 15+ cm are looking likely for Nova Scotia with upwards of 25 or 30 cm looking possible.
Winds are looking set to gust 60 to 80 km/h which will lead to blowing and drifting snow.
The timing of the storm is also a bit uncertain and will be key. However most models are currently bringing the snow in throughout Monday afternoon with significant distributions looking likely for the evening commute.
The heaviest snow is likely for Monday evening and overnight before tapering off to flurries for Tuesday morning. Eastern areas may see some mixing with ice pellets, rain and drizzle.
Stay tuned for updates over the next few days.
