CBC
Police say an initial investigation shows a 77-year-old woman and an 81-year-old man died in a murder-suicide in the village of Love, Sask., on Thursday.
They “were members of the same family” and their names will not be made public, RCMP said in a Friday news release.
Officers from the Nipawin detachment went to a home in Love, located 110 kilometers northeast of Prince Albert, after receiving a report about two dead people inside around noon on Thursday, the release said.
Initial investigation showed the woman died "as a result of homicide and the 81-year-old male died as a result of self-inflicted injuries," it said.
The RCMP homicide investigation unit is leading the investigation into the deaths, with assistance from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, but the RCMP are "not seeking additional suspects,” and “no charges will be laid,” the release said.
There will be an increased police presence in Love for an “undetermined amount of time,” it added.
Police said relatives have been notified and offered victim services.
