Smart parking facilities are set to be launched at 14 locations in Hyderabad, featuring a dynamic app for real-time updates.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has undertaken a pilot project to develop smart parking facilities at 14 locations across the Khairatabad Zone.
Two agencies have been selected for developing the parking facilities, seven each, recommended by an evaluation committee constituted for the same.
The parking facilities will be developed under the flyovers of Somajiguda Circle and Shaikpet, near Satyam Theatre at Ameerpet, ward office of Mallepally near Bazar Guard, near Necklace Road Railway station, MGBS area, GHMC head office, TTD Temple area at Liberty, Liberty Circle at Himayat Nagar, three locations in Abids, under PVNR expressway at Mehdipatnam, and between Basheerbagh flyover and Liberty Circle.
The parking status at each of these locations will be updated dynamically through a mobile app. Parking slots will be marked and numbered, and the operations, including the payment, will be completely in digital mode, officials informed. An electrical vehicle charging facility, apart from kiosks selling food items, will be provided at each of these parking locations, they informed.
The agencies will manage the parking spaces for the coming three years, and based on the success of the pilot project, the parking facilities will be replicated across the city, officials said.
