
Sleep-deprived elderly man jumps from 16th floor of Ghaziabad building, dies

A retired officer, reportedly troubled due to lack of sleep, ended his life by jumping from the 16th floor of a building in Ghaziabad on Wednesday night.
A retired officer ended his life by jumping from the 16th floor of a building located in Panchsheel Wellington Society in Crossing Republic in Ghaziabad on Wednesday night. The deceased, identified as Vinod Shankar (65), had retired from MTNL as Senior Supervisor and used to live in Crossing Republic with his family.
His son, Vikrant, told police that Vinod was troubled due to lack of sleep for the past one month. Also, he used to walk on the balcony till late at night due to which his health was deteriorating.
On Wednesday night around 3 am, he jumped off the high-rise building. On hearing the sound, the guards ran, only to find Vinod lying in a pool of blood. Following this, police were informed who reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
