
Shocked to hear about sexual misconduct by Chennai schoolteacher: Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan said he is "shocked" to hear about the allegations of sexual harassment by a Chennai schoolteacher. He said the students' allegations that the school did not act on their complaints is "shaking his belief in educational institutions".
A day after a Chennai schoolteacher was arrested following allegations from several students that he sexually harassed them, actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan said he is "shocked" to hear about these allegations. He said the students' allegations that the school did not act on their complaints about the teacher is "shaking his belief in educational institutions". Kamal Haasan urged the state government to concentrate on this case and form a special investigation team as more complaints, of similar nature involving other educational institutions, are being reported.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
