
Shiv Sena MLA files Rs 100-crore defamation suit against BJP's Kirit Somaiya

Shiv Sena leader Ravindra Waikar has filed a defamation case against BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. In his plea, Waikar has sought damages to the tune of Rs 100 crore.
Shiv Sena leader Ravindra Waikar and his wife Manisha have filed a defamation suit before the Bombay High Court against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya, seeking damages to the tune of Rs 100 crore. In their plea, the couple sought Rs 100 crore as damages to Ravindra Waikar (62) and another Rs 10 crore to his wife Manisha (58). The couple said Kirit Somaiya had accused them of misusing their positions to purchase some properties.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
