
Sharad Pawar breaks silence on Sunetra Pawar's oath-taking as Maharashtra Deputy CM

Sharad Pawar said that Sunetra Pawar's appointment was a decision made by her party, the Nationalist Congress Party, and that he was not consulted.
Ajit Pawar’s uncle and NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that he was not aware if his nephew’s wife, Sunetra Pawar, would be sworn in as Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister on Saturday, following Ajit Pawar’s death in a plane crash on Wednesday.
"I have no information about it. Her party must have decided...What I saw in the newspaper today: some names like Praful Patel and Sunil Tatakare who have taken the initiative to make some decisions. I had no discussion on this. I have no information about this...I am not even aware if it is happening,” Sharad Pawar said.
The leadership of the NCP (SP) and Sharad Pawar’s family were not aware of Sunetra Pawar’s decision to join the BJP-led government.
Talks of a merger between the two NCP factions had been going on for the past four months, led by Ajit Pawar and Jayant Patil, but Sharad Pawar said the process has been put on hold following his nephew’s death.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the Mahayuti alliance will support the NCP’s decision on the vacant Deputy Chief Minister post.
“The decision will be taken by the NCP. We will support whatever decision they take. We are standing by the family of Ajit Pawar and the NCP,” Fadnavis told reporters.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
