There were chaotic scenes in Rajasthan's Kota on Saturday after a building collapsed in the Jawahar Nagar area, triggering panic among locals. The incident left several people feared trapped under the debris, officials said.
The building reportedly housed restaurants, raising concerns that staff members and customers may have been inside at the time of the collapse.
On receiving information, police teams and ambulances rushed to the spot and immediately cordoned off the entire area to prevent crowds from gathering and to allow rescue operations to proceed smoothly.
Fire brigade personnel and disaster response teams were also alerted and are working to clear the rubble.
Rescue efforts are currently underway, with authorities using equipment to remove debris carefully in the hope of finding survivors.
The exact number of people trapped under the collapsed structure has not yet been confirmed.
