The "Late Night" host clowned the president using an "original" prize of his own creation.
Seth Meyers tore apart Donald Trump on Wednesday after the president announced his plans to host this year’s Kennedy Center Honors ceremony amid his power grab of the Washington, D.C., arts institution.
The “Late Night” host turned to a clip of the center’s new chairman — Trump — claiming that he initially dismissed the gig.
″‘Are you fools asking me to do that?’ ‘Sir, you’ll get much higher ratings.’ I said, ‘I don’t care. I’m president of the United States. I won’t do it,’” recalled Trump at a rambling press conference where he announced the center’s 2025 honorees.
He continued, “They said, ‘Please.’ And then [Kennedy Center board member and White House Chief of Staff] Susie Wiles said to me, ‘Sir, I’d like you to host.’ I said, ‘OK, Susie, I’ll do it.’”
Meyers swiftly gave his two cents on the tale.
