
Senior officials of PNB, NIC among 15 named in charge sheet by CBI in Rs 48-lakh fraud case

The accused allegedly forged documents to avail benefits of fake motor accident claims a causing loss of nearly Rs 48 lakh.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet before a designated court in Assam’s Guwahati against 15 accused, including the senior officials of National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) and Punjab National Bank, in a fraud case of Rs 47.68 lakh.
The central agency has named NICL’s then Deputy Manager Mihir Kanti Biswas, erstwhile Senior Manager Biswajit Das along with its private investigators Partha Chakraborty, Bijan Krishna Paul, Mahibul Islam, Bishnu Kalita, and Hemanta Kumar Sarma.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
