The Trinamool Congress has accused the ruling BJP of 'unleashing' police violence against its cadre and violating the Supreme Court's orders related to campaigning ahead of civic body polls in the state.

Before leaving for New Delhi on Monday, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had told reporters, "The chief minister of Tripura [Biplab Deb] and his government are defying the SC's directive. Despite the Supreme Court's verdict, parties are being stopped from holding meetings and rallies."
