
SC to hear ex-Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh's plea tomorrow

The Supreme Court will hear a plea filed by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh seeking a probe into the corruption allegations levelled by him on Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
The Supreme Court is set to hear former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh's plea on Wednesday. The ex-Mumbai top cop has urged the court to direct the Central Bureau of Investigation to probe the allegations levelled by him against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. In his plea, Param Bir Singh has also challenged the order of his transfer from the post of Mumbai police commissioner.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
