
Sarpanch with ties to BJP shot dead by terrorists in J&K's Kulgam

Terrorists opened fire on a village chief, or sarpanch, in Kulgam’s Okey village in south Kashmir today. Sarpanch Shabir Ahmad Mir was immediately taken to a hospital in Kulgam, where he was declared dead by doctors.
This is the second incident in two days when a Panchayat member has been killed in the Kashmir Valley.
A BJP leader, Shabir Ahmad Mir’s wife, Nusrat, is also a sarpanch.
The Valley has been seeing a spike in terror incidents recently.
On March 9, terrorists shot and killed another sarpanch, Sameer Ahmad Bhat, in the outskirts of Srinagar. On March 2, an Independent sarpanch was killed in Kulgam.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
