
Sar tan se juda Hyderabad chapter: Arrests, bails over Prophet remarks, threats

Hyderabad erupted in protest as a political storm brewed over a Telangana BJP MLA’s remarks against the Prophet Muhammed. The MLA, T Raja Singh, has since been suspended by the saffron party, which has been dealing with the repercussions of its party leaders’ comments on the Prophet.
The BJP began troubleshooting in June, when it was forced to swiftly distance itself from the comments made by its then national spokesperson Nupur Sharma following international condemnation. Two months later, the party found itself fighting the same war after its Telangana MLA landed in a similar soup.
On Monday, Hyderabad - at the epicenter of the outrage - simmered as protesters began gathering. By Tuesday, the mob was on the streets. Effigies were burnt, ‘sar tan se juda’ slogans were raised and T Raja Singh was subsequently arrested. The MLA, however, was soon granted bail.

At these protests, a social media influencer and self-proclaimed social and civil rights activist, Syed Abdahu Kashaf, raised the ‘sar tan se juda slogans’ and later defended his actions, saying that his “intention was that the person who abuses or uses ill language against the Prophet, would suffer the punishment of 'sar tan se juda'”.
After widespread outrage over his comments and later his defence, Kashaf was arrested by the Hyderabad Police. He, too, got bail later in the day.
“Protests in Hyderabad are a direct result of the alleged hate speech by suspended BJP leader T Raja Singh,” AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

India's original Dhurandhar, Ravindra Kaushik, rose from acting at college theatres, to infiltrating the Pakistan Army as a RAW Agent.
