
Sanjay Raut sent to ED custody till August 4 in land scam case

A PMLA court has remanded Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, who is being probed in the Patra chawl scam, in ED custody till August 4.
A Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Mumbai has remanded Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, who is being probed in the Patra chawl scam, in Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till August 4.
The judge said, “I am of the opinion that ED custody for the accused till Aug 4 will suffice.”

During the hearing, Sanjay Raut’s lawyer, Ashok Mundargi, said, “This, according to us, is a political vendetta.”
Advocate Mundargi said Raut was officially arrested at 12.45 am on Monday, but his liberty was taken away at 7.30 am.
He also said Raut was detained in the absence of documents and was not allowed to go out of the house.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
