
Sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik includes 'fruity flavour' in his Durga Puja creation this year

Renowned sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik has created a sand sculpture of ‘Maa Durga’ with different types of fruits at Puri sea beach.
On the occasion of Durga Puja, renowned sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik on Sunday created a sand sculpture of ‘Maa Durga’ with different types of fruits at Puri sea beach with a message "Wishing all peace and prosperity".
Pattnaik used around seven tons of sand and took five hours to create the 7ft high sand sculpture of Goddess Durga with twelve different fruits like orange, apple, grapes, banana, coconut, cucumber custard apple and pineapple.
Pattnaik was joined by his students of the sand art institute to create the sculpture of Goddess Durga.
Padma awardee Sudarsan Pattnaikhas participated in more than 60 International sand art championships and festivals around the World and has won many awards for the country.
He never misses any chance to spread awareness messages through his sand art, such as global peace, climate change, covid-19, beat plastic pollution, save water, stop terrorism and no tobacco etc.
His sand arts on social awareness are highly appreciated by the UN Environment and World Health Organisation (WHO) etc.
