Bengaluru is set to get a state-of-the-art facility at the Sports Authority of India’s Nethaji Subhas Southern Centre soon, which aims to leverage science and technology to enhance the performance of athletes.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) and SAI to establish “HAL-SAI High Performance Centre” under its corporate social responsibility initiative.
“The centre will have facilities in the areas of Anthropometry, Biomechanics, Exercise Biochemistry, Nutrition, Sports and Exercise, Physiology, Psychology, Strength & Conditioning, Sports Medicine, Physiotherapy, etc.,” HAL said.
HAL is also setting up a football academy in Bengaluru with a Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)-standard football grounds to spot, identify and train young talent. A HAL-SAI sports training centre was previously established by the defence PSU under its CSR initiatives at Koraput in Orissa for training tribal youth in archery, football and athletics.
