Suspended Mumbai Police cop Sachin Vaze killed Mansukh Hiren as he thought the latter was a weak link in the Ambani bomb scare case, sources in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) said on Thursday. Mansukh Hiren, whose Scorpio car laden with gelatin sticks and a threat letter was detected outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai residence in February, was found dead in Thane’s Mumbra creek last month. Sachin Vaze and some others have been arrested in connection with the case. Vaze feared the case was going out of his hand and that Hiren will spill the beans, NIA sources said on Thursday. Vaze has been arrested on charges of planning the planting of the vehicle near Ambani’s residence, Antilia.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
