RTI | Tihar Jail refuses details about jammers, cellphones were seized in March
India Today
Use of mobile phone by an inmate at the Tihar Jail raised multiple questions about its security arrangements. Tihar Jail is among the high-security prison premises that are equipped with phone jammers.
Earlier this year, news reports said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team, which was probing the case of bomb scare outside businessman Mukesh Ambani’s residence in Mumbai, took into possession two cellphones recovered from Tehseen Akhtar, an inmate at the Tihar Jail in Delhi. Tehseen Akhtar is the alleged chief of the Indian Mujahideen (IM), a terror outfit and lodged in the Tihar Jail. The phones were recovered on March 11. He was said to have been using these phones since October last year.More Related News
