RS polls: No problem with Congress, all MVA nominees will win, says Sena’s Sanjay Raut

Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut has asserted that there are no problems within the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra or with ally Congress ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls.

Ahead of the crucial Rajya Sabha polls, the Shiv Sena has asserted that there are no problems within the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra and that ally Congress, too, has no differences with the leadership on any issue.

“I refuse to believe that there are problems. Whenever there are any issues, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has direct communication with Sonia Gandhi. In the state, the chief minister is always available and takes calls of all the Congress leaders, including Nana Patole and Ashok Chavan and others. All the matters are discussed,” said Sena leader Sanjay Raut.

The Shiv Sena leader expressed confidence that both of its nominees will win the race to the Rajya Sabha and that all four of MVA leaders (Shiv Sena: 2, NCP: 1, Congress: 1) will be elected to the Upper House. He also alleged that the BJP of using underhanded means in the run-up to the polls.

“BJP’s third candidate comes from an area that has sugar barons. Clearly, he can spend a lot of money and indulge in horse trading. But so be it. This is democracy. We have our keen eyes on the situation,” said Raut.

Asked about a few Congress leaders expressing displeasure on not getting a Rajya Sabha nomination, the Sena leader explained, “Congress doesn’t have the numbers so they can accommodate only so many. Whom to nominate or not is the Congress party’s internal prerogative and I don’t want to comment. If they had given ticket to someone from Maharashtra, the issues could have got more voice and on this matter the Congress has to deliberate.”
