Several thousand tourists, who got stranded owing to inclement weather and landslides since Monday, have also started travelling back to Siliguri, which is the gateway to Sikkim, Darjeeling hills and Dooars region.
Normal life continued to remain affected on Thursday in sub-Himalayan West Bengal owing to the torrential rain earlier this week that triggered landslides and caused rivers to overflow, inundating low-lying areas.
Two children who were reportedly swept away by flood waters on Wednesday at Jaigaon in Alipurduar district are yet to be found, an official said.
