Speaking about the controversy over the state tableaux for Republic Day parade, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said there should be a stop in seeing "bad politics in a display that celebrates India".
Following criticism by some opposition-ruled states over the removal of their proposed tableaux from the Republic Day parade, the Centre on Tuesday said that there should be a stop in seeing "bad politics in a display that celebrates India". The tableaux proposals of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal were rejected by the subject expert committee for this year's Republic Day parade.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
