Red sanders worth over ₹50 lakh were found abandoned in two luxury cars in Mathigiri here on Thursday.
Locals found two cars abandoned at MGR Nagar in Mathigiri and alerted the police. Upon inspection by the police in the presence of forest and revenue officials, logs of red sanders logs weighing 658 kg were found stacked in the vehicles.
According to the police, one of the cars was found with 11 logs of red sanders, and another with 8 logs. The ownership of the luxury cars with Karnataka registration was not disclosed. The seized red sanders are estimated to be over ₹50 lakh.
