Rajinikanth to be bestowed with Dada Saheb Phalke award

The honour is considered India’s highest award in cinema.

Actor Rajinikanth will be honoured with the 51st Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced on Thursday. The honour is considered India’s highest award in cinema and is presented to the recipient for their “outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema”. Javadekar announced the news on social media, congratulating Rajinikanth and thanking jury members Mohanlal, Asha Bhosle, Subhash Ghai and Biswajeet Chatterjee.
